Sauce Guide to Pubs & Bars

Oct 2000

This, the third Match bar repeats the winning formula of top quality drinks, exposed brickwork and, here, they’ve even managed a 3am license (entry charges may apply). This former photographic studio, with its basement and skylights, has been coolly converted with plenty of secondhand sofas and a relaxed feel. Being a mullet’s snip from Hoxton, there are contemporary art and photography exhibitions held on a regular basis. The cocktail list is among the best in London with many drinks original to Match bars. The spirits selection is superb and you’ll also find some great bottled beers, though no draught. For private dos, there’s a separate room downstairs with its own bar. An odd location draws a range of stray Hoxtonites and adventurous All Bar One city escapees.
