| Sosho had its Friday-night licence extended to 3am and installed new monthly resident DJ Jeremy Newall earlier this month, making clear the bar’s club-bound intent. Guest DJs will be welcomed every Friday, with management promising no increase in door tax. The music policy casts its net wide, though you may expect it to be anchored by deep house, avoiding the genre’s trainspotting tendencies by emphasising funky feet and smiling faces. This week’s guest is the fabulous Rob Wood – editor of Jockey Slut. His mixing talents more then equal his literary skills, and he has a penchant for Latin, Afrobeat and jazzy grooves as well as deep, blissful house, so expect a block-rockin’ party as Sosho comes into its own. |
